124 Arrested in Steroid Drug Bust

September 24, 2007

Cheating athletes are in trouble.

The Drug Enforcement Association of the United States announced today that 124 arrests have been made throughout the entire country over the past four days in connection with a major underground performance enhancing drug ring. The investigation, called Operation Raw Deal, is looking into Chinese companies who were shipping in raw materials in order to make steroids and HGH. By raiding 56 labs throughout the country, the Drug Enforcement Association is in the process of putting together a database of those who purchased and used the drugs.

Why does this matter?

Rusty Payne (spokesman for the Drug Enforcement Association):
“We have the ability to identify individual customers, and that should send chills down the spines of athletes and high school and college students who were buying from these manufacturers. We can find you, based on our data base.”

That’s why.

Selig Pardons Giambi

August 17, 2007

Jason Giambi, who admitted he used performance enhancement drugs, was pardoned by Bud Selig and the MLB yesterday from any punishment at all.

Selig called his decision on the matter “appropriate” due to Giambi’s charitable work and cooperation with baseball’s steroids investigator.

This serves as an example for all those players that did use these types of drugs at one point or another. If you do the right thing by admitting your mistake and giving back to charity, you can avoid punishment by the MLB.

Whether or not others (*cough* Barry Bonds *cough*) will follow suit is to be determined.
