With the trade deadline looming (7/31/07), there were two deals out of the MLB today.
Indians and Rangers
Indians get: Kenny Lofton (OF)
Rangers get: Max Ramirez (C), Minors (A)
Phillies and White Sox
Phillies get: Tadahito Iguchi (2B)
White Sox get: Michael Dubee (P), Minors (A)
Two smart deals for both of the top teams. The Indians are trying to make a move at a World Series title and add speed by bringing Kenny Lofton back to Cleveland. The Rangers make the move to obviously begin rebuilding, again.
With Utley out, the Phillies needed Iguchi to have any chance at making the playoffs. By trading Iguchi, the 2005 World Series Champions have officially raised the white flag, or white sock, I guess.
