Crosby Classic

January 2, 2008

The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Buffalo Sabres 2-1 in a shootout yesterday. The “Winter Classic” was the first outdoor NHL game held in America.

The NHL had to be happy enough when the game got to a shootout. But when Sidney Crosby had the winning shootout goal, they must have partied like it was 2007.

The Winter Classic

September 20, 2007

The Pittsburgh Penguins and Buffalo Sabres are set to play an outdoor hockey game on January 1, 2008.

On Tuesday, tickets for “The Winter Classic” reportedly sold out in less than 30 minutes.

The game is to be played in Ralph Wilson Stadium, home of the Buffalo Bills.

Just about 71,000 fans are expected to be in attendance for the event.

Although getting heavily criticized by many articles, the NHL is making the right move here. By taking one game out of the extensive NHL schedule to be played outside, they have created a spectacle that should boost fanfare.

They just better hope for good weather.

Average Temperature in Buffalo on January 1st: 25°

Good luck with that.
