Word of Mouth: Tiki "The Mouth" Barber
September 4, 2007
“If Tom Coughlin had not remained as headcoach of the Giants, I might still be in a Giants uniform.”
-Retired football star Tiki Barber, as written in
his new book, “Tiki: My Life in the Game and Beyond”
Maybe Tiki Barber forgot, but before Tom Coughlin came around, he was fumbling every other carry.
Tom Coughlin taught Barber to hold the ball vertically rather than horizontally, and this led to an immense change in Tiki’s numbers. Without Tom Coughlin, Tiki Barber would not have been as good a player as he was able to become.
The Numbers (As A Starter)
Fumbles Per Season B.C. – 8.75 fumbles
Fumbles Per Season A.C. - 3.00 fumbles
—————————————-
B.C. (Before Coughlin)- 2000-2003
A.C. (After Coughlin)- 2004-2006
Bottom Line: Shut your mouth, show some respect to the man who made you, and move on.
