There was a trade between the Miami Heat and Minnesota Timberwolves today.
Heat Get: GF Ricky Davis (right) and C Mark Blount
Timberwolves Get: F Antoine Walker, F Wayne Simien, C Michael Doleac, and a future first-round pick.
The Numbers (2007)
Ricky Davis- 17 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 4.8 APG
Mark Blount- 12.3 PPG, 6.2 RPG, .8 APG
Antoine Walker- 8.5 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 1.7 APG
Wayne Simien- 2.9 PPG, 1.4 RPG, .5 APG
Michael Doleac- 3.6 PPG, 2.8 RPG, .4 APG
While it seems from the numbers that the Heat got the heavy advantage, it was a good deal for both teams, as both franchises are in opposite directions. The Heat got some good veterans who no longer wanted to play in Minnesota after the shipment of Kevin Garnett, their best player.
And now, the Woves have a chance to rebuild their franchise around a lot of young talent.
Also, word has it was Pat Riley who pushed for the trade. He wanted some new talent to propel another postseason run.
And as we’ve seen in the past, what Pat Riley wants, Pat Riley gets.
